Here is a topic for everything you'd like to know about making maps for our servers.
What the track requirements are.
Who the Testers are.
What codes to use for the maps.
What number your maps should be
Usefull sites.
how to use custom signs on your maps.


Track rules
- All checkpoints need to be respawnable
- Please use the right trackcode and number.
- The route must be clear, use signs,
- Try your track to see if it's any good.
- Make the track smooth as possible
- Track lenght must be around 30 seconds (20-40 seconds)
- No anoying mods or anoying ingame MT
- When a cut is found, you need to update the track
- Make sure you compute shadows before saving, this makes your track look even better (you can compute shadows by pressing c in editor or go to tools menu)
- No obvious blockmixing. a little bit is fine, but not a total Blockmixed track...
- Don't make the track too hard. Everyone must be able to finish it, no lucky jumps where you need more respawns, no mather what skill.
- For dirttracks only: The track doesn't have to be total dirt. But mainly dirt. So a mini with a dirtpart won't count as dirt.
- Tracks should be uploaded in TMX

Things that improve a track:
-Use different turns, different directions. Don't make them random, but keep in mind where you end after each turn, so you can create an appropiate aproach for the next turn
-Don't make flat tracks. The stadium is 32x32x32 boxes, Don't forget to use elevation. This can be either uphill/downhill road or jumps and drops. Don't use jumps that go high and make you fall a long distance too. The high jump seems useless then. Keep in mind that a car has 4 wheels and that is the best position to drive; Try to create a landing that lets all wheels make contact to the ground.
-There are many types of objects to drive on. Switching between offroad/tarmac(blue)/road/platform/Dirt makes your track very diverse.



Download signs here

1) Download whichever sets you want from the links found below.

2) Copy (or cut/paste) the downloaded zips to your TrackMania custom data folder, these are found in the folders outlined below.

TMUF - my documents\TrackMania Forever
TMNF - my documents\TrackMania Forever

TMU - my documents\TrackMania United
TMN - C:\program files\TrackMania Nations ESWC\Game Data

TMS - C:\program files\TrackMania Sunrise\Game Data
TMO - C:\program files\TrackMania Original\Game Data

3) Unzip each archive into that folder, example with winRAR right click and "Extract Here", all the signs should just fall into place

Try setting the loops so close... They can't be placed there (i blockmixed them; but then the connectors would glitch if not done properly )so no I couldnt connect them to the road.

My god i need to update it again... I'll see when i can

If PheNom adds me on steam/msn/xfire/facebook/twitter I'll help him out with the blockmix You should not just mix the corkscrew but the whole part. So entrance road and corkscrew and exit road. Also this must be placed on the grass, so that you won't get empty blanks. I can explain it all, but kinda hard here.

Since all our above maps are only for TMN Forever, I am now busy making them TM2 compatible.

I will probably ditch these hard topic and use dropbox for tracksharing

Will happily restart the trackcontest for TM2 if people want it. Everything is there just people who want in is all we need. Might even get a server running if people want it.

All maps are TM2 compatible now, and I've put them on a Dropbox shared folder.
